MCAD is creating a Builder Certification program, aimed at familiarizing builders with issues and regulations unique to building in/on Western North Carolina terrain.

Projected rollout in 2009.

Though the course is still under development, topics will include healthy-built homes, site plans, steep slope and stormwater/erosion regulations, and more.

Presenters will include area experts, city and county staff members, and local builders. Land-of-Sky Regional Council, the City of Asheville, and Buncombe County's Environmental Advisory Board have already pledged their support of and assistance with design and facilitation of the program
